(MENAFN) A spokesman for Emirates Steel said that the company is foraying into Qatar as part of its strategic plans to expand its presence in the regional markets, The Peninsula reported.
The company, whose product portfolio comprise rebar, rebar in coil and wire rod, recently concluded sales contracts for the supply of rebar to Qatar and expects to deliver more products in the coming weeks, according to the spokesman.
As part of its expansion, the company will also produce hot rolled steel sections, such as beams, columns, channels, angles and sheet piles, starting 2012.
Emirates Steel currently sells around 80 percent of its products in its local market with the balance being exported to Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, India, China, Pakistan, and most recently Qatar.
