(MENAFN) UAE’s national carrier, Etihad Airways, announced its first quarter results with an 11 percent increase in passenger numbers.
According to Etihad’s press statement, the carrier’s passenger numbers for the first three months of the year increased by 11 percent, while premium traffic growing by 5 percent over the first quarter a year earlier.
Etihad Airways said that it saw a 25.4 percent growth in revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs) in the first quarter, out-pacing the industry average and running ahead of the carrier’s available seat kilometers (ASKs) growth of 22 percent.
The carrier’s CEO, James Hogan, said that these figures are encouraging. He noted that the airline’s investment in its product and in its brand has helped it attract higher numbers of passengers in both economy and premium cabins.
