(MENAFN) Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer, James Hogan, said that the airline inked a new codeshare deal with Air Astana, the national airline of Kazakhstan, reported Gulf News.
Hogan said that the agreement is another step in the global network expansion of the Abu Dhabi-based airline. The deal includes giving the ability for travelers from any of Etihad’s destinations worldwide to fly to Kazakhstan through its Abu Dhabi hub.
According to the agreement, Etihad would put its ‘EY’ code on Air Astana’s flights to Abu Dhabi from Almaty and Astana, while Air Astana places its ‘KC’ code on Etihad’s flights between Abu Dhabi and Astana and Almaty.
The CEO said that Air Astana currently has 11 flights per week to Abu Dhabi from Almaty and Astana. The 2 airlines jointly operate 15 weekly services between Kazakhstan and Etihad’s hub in Abu Dhabi.
