(MENAFN) An official at Etihad Airways said that the airline is set to receive another cargo plane from Airbus, A330-200F in a move to improve its cargo handling capacity and takes its growing fleet to 56 aircraft including six in cargo division, Khaleej Times reported.
The Abu Dhabi-based airline took delivery of an Airbus A330-220F freighter aircraft in August 2010, which drastically boosted its cargo handling capacity and helped the airline to serve new destinations.
Etihad Crystal Cargo operates two MD11F, one A330-200F and two Airbus A300-600F aircraft in its fleet.
The UAE�s national carrier announced the largest aircraft order in commercial aviation history at Farnborough International Air Show in 2008, for up to 205 aircraft,100 firm orders, 55 options and 50 purchase rights.
Over the next 10 years, Etihad plans to take delivery of six Airbus A330s by the end of 2011, followed by 20 A320s between 2011 and 2015. The airline plans to handle 25 million passenger by 2020 and has planned its fleet expansion accordingly. It will take deliveries of 10 Airbus A380s from 2014 and 25 A350s between 2017 and 2020, according to company�s latest fact sheet.
