(MENAFN) Khalifa al Shamsi, the senior vice president of marketing at Etisalat, said that Etisalat and du started testing their shared networks before the official launch this year, reported The National.
Shamsi said that this shared network came in an attempt to stop monopolies of the telecommunication market. While Etisalat monopolized internet and cable television services in most Saudi Arabia, du had very strong presence in Dubai’s newer neighborhoods like Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah and Media City. The two operators signed an agreement that secures access to each other’s broadband internet and television networks.
It is expected for this shared network and it results of giving people the choice of service provider to increase competition and thus create a drop in prices.
