(MENAFN) Etisalat’s chairman, Mohammed Omran, stated that the UAE-based company plans to spend USD15 billion in upgrades to its telecommunications networks over the period from 2011 to 2016, reported The National.

Omran also said that the company’s upgrades go along with the expected increase in demand on online data usage. He added that the upgrades would improve machine to machine communications as well as mobile video calls.

The chairman pointed out that Etisalat would invest in 4G and fiber-optic connections to ensure the company’s service quality in its 18 operation locations over Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

It is worth noting that the telecom giant, Etisalat, intends to invest USD1.36 billion in fiber optics networks across the UAE after having spent an equal amount on the same project earlier.
