(MENAFN) Etisalat’s Executive Vice President for Carrier and Wholesale Services, Ali Amiri, said that since 2008, traffic from the company’s UAE operation increased 300 percent, surpassing the 100 Gigabit per second (Gbps) mark earlier this year, reported Emirates 24/7.
Amiri added that the increase in traffic showed the country’s growing Internet community who were continually connected via a group of devices that were available everywhere, in addition, the number showed the increasing usage amongst business customers who became more dependant on advanced technologies to operate regional offices from the UAE.
He also said that since the country’s economy would continue to grow and businesses would be encouraged to establish regional headquarters in the UAE, Etisalat would expect this trend to expand further with new innovations such as Cloud Computing, mobile health, finance and education catalyzing future demand.
It is worth noting that Etisalat has partnered with other major operators to set up intercontinental cable across the Middle East. Recently the company participated in TEAMS, IMEWE and the Regional Cable Network (RCN) which promise greater and more reliable connectivity for the region.
