(MENAFN) Fluor Corp., an engineering and construction management firm, said that its new venture in Qatar has signed a five-year maintenance and services contract with Qatar Shell Gas-to-Liquids Ltd., AP reported
Under the deal, Fluor will provide maintenance services for the utilities and gas-to-liquids process sections of the Pearl GTL project. The project is being developed under a production sharing agreement with Qatar Petroleum.
When it’s completed, the company said the Pearl GTL project will be the world’s largest gas-to-liquids plant. Major construction is expected to be completed this year with production beginning in 2011.
Pearl GTL will produce liquid fuels, lubricants and chemical feedstocks from natural gas. It will also produce natural gas liquids and ethane, a petrochemical feedstock.
