17 May 2011

(MENAFN) Flydubai’s CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said that in June, the carrier would start its flights to Hyderabad, India, which would become the company’s second destination to the country after the Lucknow route, reported Emirates 24/7.

Al Ghaith added that by adding Hyderabad to its network, the total number of the airline’s destinations would become 37, it would provide a low cost option and would increase the number of Southern India’s travelers, adding that the flights would head to Hyderabad three times a week which would give Indians in the United Arab Emirates a low cost flights to their home country during summer holiday season.

He also said that a one way fare to Hyderabad from Dubai would start at USD159 which would include one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7kg and one small laptop bag or hand bag whereas fares from Hyderabad to Dubai would start from USD206. On the other hand, checked baggage would start at USD13.6 for 20kgs and a seat with extra legroom would cost USD27.

It is worth noting that Hyderabad is an important new route for flydubai and goes a long way in the carrier’s efforts to fulfill that commitment. While the Lucknow route provides a gateway to North and Central India; the Hyderabad route will be a low cost connection to South India, benefiting not only the Indian expat population in the UAE but also bringing increased tourism and business opportunities to this historic city.
