(MENAFN) Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani announced very positive forecasts as he said that the country would witness economic growth of over eighteen percent in 2011, reported Arabian Business.
The Premier said that the country witnessed an eleven percent growth in its gross domestic production (GDP) in 2009, a 16 percent growth in 2010, and that the number would go over 18 percent in 2011.
He also said that to achieve such growth, the country modified a number of laws, legislations and regulations in order to boost growth.
Although Qatar�s economy depends majorly on oil and gas, he said that the country is working towards diversifying into other fields such as petrochemicals, steel, aluminum and fertilizers.
