(MENAFN) GE Aviation’s President and CEO, David Joyce, said that the firm inked a deal with Emirates Airlines in order to help supervise the design and construction of the carrier’s Engine Overhaul Shop, reported Emirates 24/7.
Joyce added that the new USD120 million Engine Overhaul Shop would be established on a 90,000 square meters piece of land, moreover, construction operations of the facility would start in 2012’s first quarter, whereas it would be operational by 2014’s fourth quarter.
He also said that the facility, which would create more than 500 new job opportunities, would allow the UAE company to provide the best maintenance operations to its fleet.
It is worth noting that the Engine Overhaul Shop will have the capacity to perform 300 engine repairs each year on GE90 engines that power the Boeing 777 planes and GP7000 engines that power the Airbus A380 aircrafts.
