Hamad Hospital turns games village to hospital

(MENAFN) Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari, Managing Director at Hamad Medical Corporation, said that Hamad Medical City signed an agreement with both Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company for work on health facilities, the Peninsula reported.

Dr. Al Kuwari added that the agreement was worth QR2b and included the conversion, furnishing, redesigning and equipping buildings that were previously under the athletes’ village that was used in Doha Asian Games back at 2006.

The project would be completed in 35 month. The new hospital would be for women and would include five theatres, 60 examining rooms and 21 delivery and recovery rooms. It would also include an emergency department and has the capacity for accommodating 190 single patient rooms as well as more than sixty newborns.
