(MENAFN) U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that the US Government?s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has signed agreements for water projects worth $275 million with Jordan, Kuwait News Agency (Kuna) reported.
During the MCC signing ceremony, Hillary Clinton stated that the project will help Jordan manage its water resources while saving money and protecting the environment and that nearly two million people will gain more reliable access to clean water.
Clinton affirmed that in the long run, the agreement will help improve public health and spur sustainable economic growth in the Kingdom. The project will increase the supply of available water by improving water delivery, wastewater collection, and wastewater treatment.
The MCC CEO Daniel Yohannes and Jordan?s Minister of Water and Irrigation Mohammad Najjar signed the contract, whereas Clinton and Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh were witnesses to the signing ceremony.
