(MENAFN) Official figures issued in Jordan showed that the value of remittances by Jordanians working and living abroad amounted, in the past 10 months, $3 billion, compared to $2.9 billion the same period of last year, Kuna reported.
Jordanian immigrants transferred, in October, approximately $308 million, in contrast to $3.4 of the same period of last year.
Tourism income amounted, in the past 10 months, to $2.8 billion, compared to $2.4 the same time last year.
The remittances by the nationals residing abroad constitute a main source for savings and backing the balance of payments. They account for about 14 percent of the kingdom’s gross national product.
