Jordan to receive $131m in aid from Germany

(MENAFN) The German government announced that it has pledged $130.9 million to aid Jordan over the upcoming two years, amidst talks touching the bilateral developmental cooperation program for 2011-2012, Arabian Business reported.

The figure will be used to support projects in fields of water, sewage, energy and others. However, the Kingdom also asked Germany to aid its educations sector, specifically the financing of the fourth phase of the construction of elementary schools, which the German government previously pledged $56m towards.

According to Jordan’s Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, the number of foreign loans and grants to the kingdom jumped 31 percent this year.
