05 Jan 2011

(MENAFN) The Lebanese Industry Minister Apraham Dedeyan announced that industrial exports in the country hiked by thirty percent since 2009, and thus accounting for thirteen percent of the country’s GDP, reported The Daily Star.

The minister said that industry sector accounts for around eighty percent of Lebanons exports. Still, the country’s trade market continues to shrink. Trade deficit in September 2010 amounted to $10.172 billion, the country’s highest ever. Increases in personal loans along with loans stagnation added to the problem.

The minister confirmed that the ministrys employees have strict orders for facilitating work for industrialists and provide maximum support. The ministry aims to push for breaks on export tariffs once Cabinet convenes to draw up its 2011 budget.
