(MENAFN) International Telecommunications Union (ITU) stated that Lebanon recorded an improvement in Information and Communication technologies (ICT) indicators last year, reported The Daily Star.
The Union, which is a United Nations agency, also said that Lebanon came in 10th among the 17 Middle East and North African countries and 116th on a global level in terms of Internet penetration in 2010.
The ITU added that the collective number of Internet users in Lebanon rose to 1.3 million last year, up from 1 million in the year before. It pointed out that the Lebanese number was humble compared to Egypt’s 21.7 million and Morocco’s 15.7 million.
It is worth noting that Lebanon made the 116th position out of 233 countries according to the percentage of mobile cellular subscriptions out of the total population. It came in 14th among MENA countries.
