(MENAFN) Libyan Prime Minister Al-Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmoudi said that Tripoli will help its neighbor Tunisia build an oil refinery at Tunisia’s Skhira oil terminal, Reuters reported.
al-Mahmoudi said that the two countries agreed that Libya would join the project to build a refinery at Skhira, a Mediterranean port about 350 km (220 miles) south-east of Tunis.
There were no details on what role Libya would play in the project, or on the size of its investment. Tunisia’s government announced plans to build a refinery at Skhira three years ago.
Tunisia has only one oil refinery, in the northern city of Bizerte, with capacity of 30,000 barrels per day (bpd). It has said it plans to build a second refinery with a capacity of 120,000 bpd.
