L&T clinches $81m contract in Abu Dhabi

(MENAFN) Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that it has won a major procurement and construction contract worth over $81 million from the Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) for its flagship project at Khalifa Port & Industrial Zone (KPIZ) in Taweelah, Gulf News reported.

ADPC said the work is due to begin immediately and is scheduled for completion by May 2012. It is a master developer and regulator of ports and industrial zones in the emirate,

The contract involves the design, construction, testing and commissioning of the electrical medium voltage (MV) power supply via a 33 kV power cable network and three 33kV / 11kV primary distribution substations, which will provide the main power supply for the entire phase-IA of Khalifa Port, the ADPC said in a statement.

It also involves the construction of civil buildings with utilities such as air conditioning, fire protection and lighting systems.
