Mauritania approves $1.8b budget for 2011

(MENAFN) The Mauritanian government has drafted a budget of $1.8 billion for the year 2011, according to a cabinet communique.

Compared with the 2010 budget which was slightly over one billion dollars, the new state budget marks an increase of 70 percent, said the communique released in the capital.

With the newly proposed budget, the Mauritanian government is seeking to significantly reduce poverty incidences, accelerate the achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and reinforce the execution of projects and public investment programs.

The proposed budget has yet to be submitted to parliament for adoption.
