ME’s internet advert spending to grow to USD170m

(MENAFN) Omnicom Media Group’s (OMG) digital department’s regional executive director, Dimitri Metaxas, said that in 2011, spending on internet advertising in the GCC and Levant would be expected to account for 9 percent of the total USD2 billion advertising market reaching USD170 million, reported The National.

Metaxas added that the number would be close to that recorded in developed countries like Germany and the US, where spending on the sector reached 13 percent of the total advertising market in the States.

He also said that compared with advertising in television and newspaper, which were the main tool for advertising in the Middle East; spending on digital advertising was to some extent small, nevertheless, it started to grow in recent years.

It is worth noting that in 2011, spending on digital advertising in the GCC and Levant is expected to grow 30 percent from 2010.
