(MENAFN) The Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) said that passenger traffic at the Muscat International Airport increased by 29 percent to 2.7 million in the first half of 2010, up from 2.1 million a year earlier, Kuna reported.
Arriving passengers, excluding those in transit, totaled 925,573, up 12 percent, while those departing were 16 percent higher at 826,349.
OAMC attributed the growth in traffic to several factors, notably to the growing number of tourists and businessmen visiting the country, the launch of operations by new airlines such as flyDubai and Kenya Airways, and an increase in the frequency of flights by existing carriers.
Total number of flights recorded a rise of 30 per cent, to 33,182 from 25,457.
