(MENAFN) Wael bin Ahmed Al Lawati, CEO of Omran, said that the company started working on the construction of Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre which would be Omans first international-standard convention centre, reported Times of Oman.
The CEO said that the first phase of the center would include a 3,000-seat auditorium, 25,000 square meters of exhibition halls that could accommodate 10,000 people, banquet halls, 85,000 square meters of office space as well as four hotels with a thousand rooms and a large shopping mall.
The center is located four kilometers away from Muscat airport and would be a gateway to Muscat. Location was selected because it is close to the airport as well as Muscat and thus better serves travelers.
It is worth noting that the center construction launch was attended by Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of national economy and deputy chairman of Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council, and in the presence of Rajiha bint Abdul Amir bin Ali, minister of tourism and chairperson of Omran.
