Petrofac to bid for oil, gas projects in Saudi

13 May 2011

(MENAFN) Petrofac’s senior vice president and general operations for the Saudi operations of the company’s Engineering and Construction ventures, Imad Shanan, said that in the second half of the year, the oil services firm would be very active in bidding for oil and gas projects in Saudi Arabia, reported Arab News.

Shanan added that many opportunities would be available for the company in the Kingdom, adding that in 2012, enough businesses and projects would be obtainable or awarded there.

He also said that the company wasn’t distressed by the competition from South Korean companies that won a number of engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) projects in Saudi Arabia, since there would be enough room for many companies to compete there.

It is worth noting that Petrofac is executing EPC work for the utilities and cogeneration package for the development of Saudi Aramco’s first non-associated gas field Karan, which upon completion, will have a capacity to process 1.8 billion cfd.
