(MENAFN) Qatar Airways’ chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, said that in addition to the previous 5 planes it ordered, the carrier ordered additional A380 superjumbos, reported Gulf News.
Al Baker, who declined to reveal any further details about the deal, added that Qatar Airways received its ninth Boeing 777-200LR, strengthening the carrier’s commitment to expand its fleet and route network.
He also said that Qatar Airways wasn’t interested in Boeing’s 747-8 passenger version, since the company wanted to obtain smaller planes adding that the size of the 777 and 787 aircraft type was suitable for the carrier’s route structure and requirements.
It is worth noting that Qatar Airways was believed to have planned an order announcement at the Paris Air Show in June for a few more A380s, 20 A320s and four A321s, nevertheless, the carrier cancelled the order for unknown reasons.
