Qatar announces 2020 Olympics bid

(MENAFN) Qatar Olympic Committee president Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani said that Qatar officially launched the bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games, after receiving the confirmation that Qatar is the host country, reported Arabian business.

Sheikh Tamim stated that the priority for the bid will be for the countries of the region, and the bid would be inspire space. Qatar will provide all the ideal conditions for this important athletic event, added the committee president

On another note, Qatar was competing with four candidates for hosting the event and they were; Rome, Tokyo, Madrid and Istanbul. Doha lost the previous bid for 2016 because there were some problems regarding the proposed dates.

It is worth mentioning, that the Olympics will be held during autumn because of the hot weather in summer, and the committee is planning to start the Olympics on 20th of September and to be concluding on 20th of October 2020.
