Qatargas provides Greece with LNG

23 May 2011

(MENAFN) Qatargas’ (QG) CEO, Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, said that the company would supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Greece, by which Greece would become Qatargas’ newest customer in Europe, reported The Peninsula.

Al Thani added that the deal would open new markets for the company’s LNG, adding that the shipment to Greece was sold to Vitol, a Netherlands based energy firm and a QG’s customer, for the public gas supply corporation of Greece, DEPA.

He also said that the 141.014 cubic meters of Qatari LNG were carried via the Golar Maria, a conventional LNG vessel and delivered the cargo to Revithoussa LNG Terminal, located on the Revithoussa Island in the Gulf of Megara, west of Athens.

It is worth noting that Europe is one of Qatargas’ largest customer markets, it accounts for about 45 per cent of the company’s markets.
