(MENAFN) Qtel’s CEO, Dr Nasser Marafih, said that at the current time, the company planned to focus on establishing its USD178 million fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network instead of concentrating on 4G technology, reported Arabian Business.
Marafih added that when the company would think about providing a new kind of technology it would bear in mind the needs of its customers first, adding that 4G technology would need certain devices that were still in the development process.
He also said that Qtel was making evaluations and preparations for 4G, moreover, the company was in talks with the regulators to allocate the right spectrum for those services.
It is worth noting that for Qtel, FTTH, which will be completed in almost two years, is more important at the time being than 4G.
