(MENAFN) Qatar Telecom (Qtel) chief executive, Nasser Marafih, stated that the company signed a partnership with Skype under which the latter would provide access to the Qtel’s wireless broadband unit, reported the National.
This deal, the first between a Middle East operator and Skype, would enable broadband users in Jordan and Philippine to access Skype mobile software through the wi-tribe brand. Wi-tribe is the brand underwhich Qtel operates in the mentioned countries.
The deal would also enable Skype to sell vouchers for credits in wi-tribe’s retail outlets.
It is worth noting that Qtel has over 68 million clients in seventeen countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
