(MENAFN) Qatar Telecom (Qtel) announced that it has teamed up with Virgin Group, a well-known branded venture capital organization, to launch a new prepaid mobile service in Qatar.
Virgin Mobile Qatar will be the country’s first youth-focused mobile offering, delivered by Virgin Mobile in the brand partnership. It will offer a prepaid mobile service that combines the coverage and call quality benefits of Qtel’s mobile network with the unique brand experience delivered by Virgin Group.
Qtel’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nasser Marafih, said that the alliance would have an important impact in Qatar, and would see strong potential for development as a multi-country brand franchise partnership across the firm’s regional and international footprint.
With this launch, Virgin Mobile Qatar will be the eighth Virgin Mobile branded operation in the world, following on from launches in the UK, Australia, US, Canada, France, South Africa, and India.
