(MENAFN) Ras Al Khaimah’s government established a new company to boost the emirate’s hospitality industry, Arabian Business reported.

Ras Al Khaimah Hospitality Group will be responsible for managing government owned hotels, hospitality, tourism and leisure assets.

It will be responsible of carrying out hotel development projects to achieve the target of having 10,000 hotel rooms in the emirate by 2016.

Victor Louis, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Hospitality Group, said that the company would also be responsible for regulating the emirate’s food and beverage outlets, and would look at introducing “new dining concepts”.

The company will also be leading the development of Banyan Tree Al Wadi resort, and the development of both the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah and the 700-room Bab Al Bahr Beach Resort, each due to open in October 2012.
