(MENAFN) Saudi General Statistical Department said that last year, the country’s imports grew 12 percent from 2009’s USD95 billion to exceed USD106.6 billion, reported Arab News.
The department added that the country’s main exporter was the US with USD13.8 billion worth of goods, followed by China with USD12 billion and then Germany with USD8 billion.
It also said that the main imported goods were electrical equipments worth USD26 billion, whereas automobiles and transportation machineries came second with USD19 billion.
It is worth noting that in the period, Saudi imported 700,000 cars at a total cost of USD13.5 billion with Japan topping the list of auto exporters with 177,000 cars worth USD3.7 billion.
