(MENAFN) Saudi Water and Electricity Minister, Abdullah Al-Hussayen, said that the ministry inked a USD80 million deal with a coalition of Al-Arab, Germany’s BWT and Austrian ILF company to set up a tertiary sewage purification plant, reported Arab News.
Al-Hussayen added that the plant, the first of its kind in the country, would have a daily capacity of 200,000 cubic meters, and would be established along Al-Kharj Road in Riyadh; moreover, the plant would also have the ability to produce electricity at lower cost and lessen the use of chemical material.
On the other hand, National Water Company’s CEO, Luay Al-Musallam, said that his company planned to build three factories at every sewage purification plants in Saudi; the first to produce quality water, the second to generate electricity and the third for reclamation of useful organic substances.
It is worth noting that the Kingdom’s first sewage purification plant would be completed in 34 months.
