Saudi mobile phone subscribers reach 46m in Q1

(MENAFN) A report issued by the Saudi Arabian Communication and Information Technology Commission showed that the number of mobile phone subscribers in the Arab world?s largest economy increased by 1.2 million in the first quarter of this year to 46 million, Reuters reported.

The number of broadband Internet users also rose in the quarter by 200,000 to 2.9 million, according to the commission.

The commission said the number of users accessing the Internet at home from wireless services is slightly higher than those from DSL lines.

The total number of Internet users in the kingdom reached 10 million by the end of 2009, it added.
