Saudi Sep cost of living index up by 5.3%

(MENAFN) Saudi General Statistics Department said that last month, the cost of living index in the country grew by 5.3 percent over 2010’s same period, reported Arab News.

The department added that the cost of living reached 137.7 points in September compared to 136.5 points in the previous month, with a rise of 0.9 points.

On the other hand, the agency also said that prices went up in six major categories, with an increase of 3.9 percent in the goods and services sector whereas prices in rents, fuel and water rose 0.6 percent, and 0.4 percent in food and drinks.

It is worth noting that prices grew 0.2 percent in the house-furnishing sector, while they rose 0.1 percent in education, clothing and recreation.
