Scotland may sign deal with Abu Dhabi’s Masdar

(MENAFN) Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond expected to sign a significant research and investment deal with Abu Dhabi’s Masdar in 2012, Arabian Business reported.

Salmond added that Masdar CEO, Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, has requested Scotland fast-track a detailed framework for action in a bid to grow renewable energy research and investment opportunities between the two countries.

It is worth mentioning that Abu Dhabi-based energy firm TAQA announced lately a plan to invest an additional USD600 million in the North Sea following by 2013.

Salmomd said that the Scottish government supports changes to the North Sea tax structure associated with recovering oil from smaller fields such as those operated by Taqa.
