Steps ordered to resolve Jeddah port crisis

20 Dec 2010

Abdullah Zainal, The Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry, has issued orders for quick measure against the crisis of inordinate delays at the Jeddah Islamic Port, reported The Saudi Gazette.

Officials said that the problem originated from delays in issuance of laboratory reports of arriving shipments. Importers and traders suffered a loss of $24 million.

Ministry of Commerce said that more than 3,500 containers of winter clothes have not received approvals from laboratories and are waiting at the port. This might increase the prices of winter clothes.
