Tourists spending to go up 24% in 2011 in Dubai

(MENAFN) MasterCard issued a new report saying that the spending of tourists in Dubai this year would increase by 24 percent, thus hitting USD7.8 billion, reported Arabian Business.

The report also ranked Dubai at the ninth place globally in MasterCard’s index of Global Destination Cities, while Dubai was the number one destination in the Arab World.

It said Dubai was set to see nearly eight million visitors this year, an increase of 17.3 percent on last year.

It is worth noting that according to the report, Dubai was able to beat Rome, New York, Milan, Barcelona and Tokyo, even though the mentioned destinations are internationally recognized as hot tourism sites.
