(MENAFN) A tropical storm sweeping through the Sultanate of Oman caused USD50 million in damages, nine deaths and 200 injuries, Reuters reported.
The storm flooded many parts of the Sultanate, forced evacuating 60 patients rom two hospitals by government helicopters and the hospitals had to be closed.
The raging floods swept away the vehicles that stood in its way and some drivers scrambled to the rooftops of their cars to escape the rising water, which reached in some regions 5-feet high, according to witnesses.
Oman was hit by cyclone Phet last year, which killed about 50 people in different parts of the sultanate.o
