(MENAFN) The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said in a statement that the country?s air traffic movements grew 10.6 percent in April, reaching 523,000 air traffic movements when compared to 47,300 last year, Gulf News reported.
Average growth of UAE air traffic movements in the first four months of 2010 was 11.5 percent, with a total of 205,700 air traffic movements, compared to 184,700 air traffic movements during the same period last year.
The UAE air operations remained largely unaffected even as the global air traffic movements witnessed a major drop in April due to the interruption to air operations in most European airports because of ash clouds from the volcano in Iceland, the GCAA statement said.
As per the GCAA’s monthly report, the average daily air traffic movement in April 2010 was put at 1,744, up 10.6 percent compared to 1577 air traffic movements during the same period last year.
