(MENAFN) General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) stated that air traffic in the UAE in February increase by 7.6 percent, year on year, totaling to 51,431, reported Arabian Business.
GCAA stated that Dubai dominated air traffic movement in the country with a total of 23,459 movements.
As for Abu Dhabi’s new Al Maktoum International Airport, figures show that it had 102 shipping operations, thus lifting Abu Dhabi’s air traffic to the third place among the other emirates.
It is worth noting that Middle East carriers are expected to return a profit of USD700 in 2011, compared to an earlier forecast of USD400 million, however, it is still a setback compared to 2010’s USD1.1 billion.
