(MENAFN) The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority’s (GCAA) Director General, Saif Al Suwaidi, said that in 2011’s first half, air traffic in the country rose 8.25 percent from last year’s 311,803 reaching 337,497, reported Emirates 24/7.
Al Suwaidi added that daily movements last month went up 8.1 percent to an average of 1,876 air traffic movements a day up from 1,735 daily movements a year ago, moreover, air traffic in the month grew 8.2 percent to 56,291 from 52,039 in June 2010.
He also said that the emirate that had the largest number of air traffic movements in June was Dubai with 24,974 movements, whereas local flights among UAE airports recorded 4,650 movements.
It is worth noting that in June, GCAA carried out 24 inspection and audits, 6 aircraft modification transactions, and issued 3 air operator certificates and 20 simulator certificates.
