(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi’s ruler and UAE president, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahayan, plans to give 1,235 land plots to UAE citizens living in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the western UAE, Reuters reported.
The UAE has increased handouts and concessions this year, although the country has not seen the popular unrest that swept the region.
Abu Dhabi announced a plan to give USD1.9 billion in housing loans to UAE citizens last month.
This year, the UAE also increased military pensions and began subsidizing basic food commodities. The government also announced a USD1.6 billion plan for infrastructure improvement projects in the more rural northern region and plans to monitor retailers’ food prices to make sure they stay low during Ramadan.
