(MENAFN) The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s (TRA) Director-General, Mohammad Al Ganem, said that by year-end, residents in the country would be able to freely choose their broadband provider, reported Gulf News.
Al Ganem added that both Etisalat and du would be allowed to share the network all over the country through the new technology, which would increase competition between the two telecoms companies.
On the other hand, du’s CEO, Othman Sultan, said that through the new service, clients and companies in the country would get their own selected fixed line provider; moreover, the move would enhance and improve telecommunications advancement in the UAE.
It is worth noting that that in the short term, prices will not be expected to drop, since the two companies would compete on packages and higher internet speeds at the same price.
