UAE-South Africa mutual trade up 21.7%

(MENAFN) UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Trade said that last year, trade between the country and South Africa surpassed USD1 billion with an increase of 21.7 percent from 2009, reported Gulf News.

The ministry added that the UAE would aim to fortify trade between the two countries especially in the industrial sector, moreover, South Africa was considered to be a profitable export destination for made in UAE goods.

It also said that in 2010, UAE’s exports to South Africa reached USD92.4 million, whereas its imports from the African country reached USD899.6 million.

It is worth noting that in 2010, non-oil exports from Dubai to South Africa rose to USD656 million from USD343 million in the previous year, while imports increased slightly to USD831 million from USD819 million.
