(MENAFN) UAE’s National Bureau of Statistics reported that the country’s consumer price index (CPI), which shows inflation, edged up 0.78 percent in April compared to a year earlier, Khaleej Times reported.
The statistics office attributed the rise to a substantial increase in prices of food, beverages and other essentials during the month.
However, the country’s CPI dropped 0.03 percent month-on-month in April.
Data showed that prices had different trends across the country. It climbed in Fujairah by 1.66 percent; Ajman saw a rise of 1.47 percent; while in Sharjah it grew 0.43 percent.
In the first four months of the year, prices went up 0.18 percent, data showed.
