UAE’s 2011 electronics sales to hit USD3.1b

(MENAFN) Business Monitor International issued a report forecasting that individuals in the UAE’s would spend USD3.1 billion this year on electronics, and the number would grow toUSD4 billion in four years, reported The National.

The report says that items leading the electronic market figures include new technologies such as LED and 3D TV sets, 3G mobile handsets, smartphones and Blu-ray players.

The report also said that consumers would not show a hike in electronics purchases as people are still cautiously spending after the global financial crisis. However, as the tourism sector grew in Dubai, electronics markets picked-up and sales grew.
