(MENAFN) DP World’s Chief Executive, Mohammad Sharaf, said that due to a strong performance in the UAE, Asia Pacific, Africa and Americas regions, in the third quarter, the company’s container throughput rose 10 percent to 14.4 million twenty-feet-equivalent units (TEUs), reported Gulf News.
Sharaf added that in the January-September period, gross volumes grew 11 percent from 2010’s same period to 40.6 million TEU which resulted from the company’s constant focus on faster growing markets as a source of growth.
He also said that the company also handled new volumes from Suriname and additional capacity in Callao, Peru and Qingdao in China.
It is worth noting that in 2011’s first nine months, the company’s consolidated terminals handled 20.5 million TEU.
