(MENAFN) After the opposition concerning the impact on prices by Qantas Airways Ltd, Australia’s largest carrier. Virgin Blue Holding Ltd., has gained a temporary endorsement from the nation’s antitrust regulator for an alliance with Etihad Airways PJSC on flights to Abu Dhabi, Bloomberg reported.
Virgin Blue said that the carriers are going to initiate sales from October 1st where the airlines will have 27 flights per week between Australia and Abu Dhabi.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) blocked a tie-up between Virgin Blue and Air New Zealand Ltd. for flights across the Tasman Sea on concern it may decrease competition.
The U.S. Transportation Department blocked Virgin Blue?s arrangement to collaborator with Delta Air Lines Inc. on flights between Australia and the U.S. east coast.
