(MENAFN) The Chief Executive of Yahsat, Jassem Al Zaabi, said that the first commercial satellite developed by Yahsat is ready to be launched to space in March 2011, reported The National.
Al Zaabi said that the on ending March 2011, the “Y1A” satellite would beam down television and telecommunications services to over twenty countries in MENA region.
The CEO of the government-owned company Yahsat said that the Abu Dhabi firm is planning to launch another satellite in the second half of the year 2011.
According to the company, the two satellites are supposed to each stay in orbit for fifteen years. The estimated cost of both satellites is around USD1.2 billion.
